Castellón's bullring was inaugurated on July 2, 1887. It was built by Manuel Montesinos Alardins, for its owners: Hipólito Fabra, Joaquín Calduch, Juan Fabregat, Joaquín Fabregat, Luciano Ferrer and José Ripollés. The sculptor José Viciano Martí, the same sculptor who made the statue of King James for the the city of Castellón, made a bronze medallion with a bull head inside for the main façade.
The first bull fight was celebrated on July 3, 1887 with bulls from the stockbreeder Duque de Veragua which were fought by the “kings” of bullfighting “Lagartijo" and "Frascuelo”. It was a full house and on that day Castellón was a great bullfighting capital.
